Dir. Mike Coggan | 2024 | 77 mins | English
Documentary chronicling Oly Rush’s world record attempt to swim around Grand Cayman. Estimated to take 30 hours of continuous swimming – all in the name of raising awareness for plastic pollution. Directed by Mike Coggan and produced by Steve Garay, this joint production by Grizzly and The Biome Project represents the first feature length documentary produced by the pair. A year-and-a-half in the making and painstakingly filmed across Dorset, UK and the Cayman Islands, The Grand Swim presents the difficulties, dangers and dedication involved in attempting what no one else has attempted before.
Oly is a swimmer, ocean advocate and environmental campaigner. Spending all his time around the sea and along the coastline he has been increasingly aware of the huge issue that is plastic pollution. In recent years he has been aiming to raise awareness about plastic pollution through his passion, distance swimming. The swims have been growing year on year, each getting longer and harder but in doing so also reaching more people, creating the ripple effect needed to combat such a global issue.
A £1 Poly Fund payment is added to each ticket sold.
