Victoria Gillow is a Cornish painter, based in Falmouth. Her practise derives from a lifetime of looking and belonging. Her Cornish heritage and love of the land and sea has informed a practise of landscape and coastal paintings.
The work is about a life lived by the sea and her respect and love of the ocean, the Cornish coast, and its history. She aims to acknowledge the comfort of places one knows - the reverie of being completely immersed in a landscape.
INSIGHT is an exhibition where Victoria shares some insight into her painting: What is it she sees (what is in sight)? What is it she feels and understands? - Her insight into what she sees on a deeper emotive level.
