This six-week course will introduce you to a sculptural approach to hand building techniques, refining your design ideas and developing your skills as you go. You will work towards making a large piece of work over six sessions, experimenting with manipulating clay and using a range of glazing methods as well as different surface treatments.
This course will also encourage you to experiment with textures, using slips, oxide/glaze washes, and embedding different organic materials that will enhance the surface of your pieces. Work can be made in in one piece, or in sections and rejoined after the firing.
At this time, the number of participants per course has been capped at three with social distancing and current government guidance in mind, though we will be reviewing this as guidance changes.
If you have any questions about this course, please get in touch with our head potter Karl at karl@thepoly.org.
