Archive & Collections

The Society was formed in 1833, and in two years the building had been erected for a single purpose: an annual exhibition in the Polytechnic Hall of developments in science and the arts.

Tuke Collection

The RCPS Collection or works by the renowned Falmouth artist Henry Scott Tuke contains 280 pieces of work and is thought to be the largest collection of Tuke's work in public ownership. Originally a gift of 252 works in 1965.

RCPS Archive

The Society's earliest archives are the deeds for the building - large, indented parchment documents of considerable beauty and historical interest. The Victorians were excellent record keepers, and the Society retains its most valuable single archive.
