Emma Thompson’s complex portrayal as Lady Marchmain is outstanding in a top-notch cast. It moves between halcyon days at Oxford in the 1920s and a more sombre reality 20 years later. This new film version revels in stunning period detail yet exhibits admirable, intelligent directorial restraint. POLY MEMBERS PRICE £4.00 (for above film title)
